Friendly, professional, and attentive service in pumping out my septic tank.

Questions About Your Septic System?
1. How often should I pump my septic tank?
For most homes, pumping every 3-5 years maintains a healthy system and prevents costly backups.
However, several factors affect this timing: the number of people in your home, how much water you use daily, and whether you have a garbage disposal.
For instance, a family of six may need pumping every 2-3 years, while a couple might go 4-5 years.
The best way to know is to get an inspection, which lets us check your system’s current condition.
2. What are the warning signs my septic system is failing?
If you notice sewage backing up in your toilets, sinks, or bathtubs, it’s an urgent warning sign that requires immediate attention.
Other warning signs include foul odors around your yard (especially near the drain field), wet spots or extra-green grass over your septic system, slow-draining fixtures, or gurgling sounds in your pipes.
Don’t wait if you notice these signs. Minor issues can quickly become expensive emergencies.
3. I just bought a house with a septic system. How do I find my tank?
Look for a round or rectangular lid in your yard, often made of concrete, plastic, or metal.
Common locations include 10-20 feet from your home’s outer wall, where the main sewer line exits.
If you’re having trouble finding it, call us. We can help locate your tank and explain your system’s layout.
4. Do you offer emergency service at night?
We provide 24/7 emergency response because septic problems don’t follow a schedule.
Whether it’s midnight, a holiday, or a weekend, we’ll respond promptly with the same quality service.
5. How long does pumping take?
Septic pumping usually takes about an hour, but we schedule 1-2 hours for each visit to do a thorough job.
- First, we locate and uncover your tank.
- Then, we pump out all solids and liquids, checking the tank’s condition as we work.
- We inspect the inlet and outlet baffles, look for cracks or damage, and make sure everything’s flowing properly.
- Before we leave, we verify that the tank is draining correctly and your toilets are flushing normally.
6. What causes a septic system backup into my house?
Several issues can cause backups, and catching them early saves you money.
- Full tank: The most common cause is a full tank. Solids build up over time and must be pumped out.
- Tree Roots: Tree roots can grow into pipes, causing clogs and breaks.
- Drain Field Issues: Sometimes, the drain field becomes compacted or saturated, preventing proper drainage.
- Clogs: Flushing non-biodegradable items (wipes, feminine products, paper towels) often causes clogs. Even excess water use, like doing multiple loads of laundry in one day, can overwhelm your system.
7. Can I install a garbage disposal if I have a septic system?
While you can install a garbage disposal, it’s not recommended for septic systems. Garbage disposals send additional solids into your tank, filling it up to 50% faster.
These extra solids often don’t break down properly, leading to more frequent pumping needs and potential system failures.
Instead, we recommend composting food waste or scraping plates into the trash. If you already have a disposal, limit its use and increase your pumping frequency.
8. Will heavy rain affect my septic system?
Heavy rain can significantly impact your septic system’s performance.
When the ground becomes saturated, your drain field can’t correctly filter wastewater. This can cause your system to slow down or stop working entirely until the ground dries.
Reduce water usage by spacing out laundry loads and showers during heavy rains.
Watch for sewage odors or wet spots in your yard, which might indicate your system is overwhelmed.
Call us for an inspection if you notice standing water over your drain field that doesn’t recede.
